About Dr. Curcin

Dr. Aleksander Curcin became aware at an early age that he wanted to study medicine. He was born in Yugoslavia and his parents moved their family to the United States in 1969. While in high school, he developed an interest in medicine and landed a job at Loma Linda University as an Orthopedic Technician. Dr. Curcin then went on to attend UCLA medical school. He moved east for his internship and residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. His spine surgery fellowship was in Baltimore at the University of Maryland teaching hospital. After his fellowship, he stayed on at University of Maryland  for seven years in an academic position. He then transitioned into private practice at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, the third largest teaching hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Curcin moved to Oregon in 2005 to join South Coast Orthopaedics Associates.

He finds that his passion now is helping patients to transform their lives, once restricted by spinal degeneration and pain, into active, pain-free lives where they can find a return to a higher quality of life. When he is not working at South Coast Orthopaedic Associates, Dr. Curcin provides Medical Legal Consultation and is actively involved in multiple committees for the North American Spine Society. The remainder of his spare time is spent peacefully; he loves to ski, bike, cook and relax at the ocean with his wife and daughters.
